there is also an academic conference, open to the public under the auspices
of the Dept of Historical Studies, Bristol University, entitled Magical
Practice and Belief: 1800-Present on 25th April, 2003. Keynote Lecture
is by Professor Ronald Hutton: 'A General Framework for the History of
European Magic'. Other speakers include Owen Davies, Ann Heilmann, Joanne
Pearson, Hannah Sanders, and Melvyn Willin. Funded partially by the University
